Diagrams + Outside Influences
When thinking about how people react and write about design
It is important to understand which aspect they are interested in. One of the
topics from the Doppler Effect that intrigued me was when the discussion of design
process rather than material solution, technical systems or contextual
elements. This brought me back to the beginning on my design process. Why are
we asked to start with a Parti, this diagram so seemingly determines many
guidelines that we will later follow. The idea of the diagram is also discussed
as a tool of the virtual. How can we be in perpetual transformation when we
have been sidelined by this diagram to help and guide our process. Fouclout
discusses this ever changing environment with this quote “unities form[ing] a
number of autonomous, but not independent domains, governed by rules, but in
perpetual transformation.” This transformation is what keeps architecture and
design ever moving and developing. This is particularly inspiring since
sometimes we want the easy way out but know if we keep pushing and keep
learning from all our interests we will become better designers for a better
cause. So in other words it is good to keep outside interests and connect with
others since we have a totally unique point of view with design always being an
influence to our critical thinking approach.
