Theory or sickness
In looking up some information on Eiseman’s buildings, I found out that some people felt nauseated when visiting his buildings, especially the Wexner Center (which is Ohio State University’s art center). Also, his project House VI had several problems according to the homeowners (Richard and Suzanne Frank), who said the house required a lot of repairs since it was built in the 70’s, and the construction of this project practically consumed all of their life savings. While Eisenman’s theories seem to be an evolution of modernism and Le Corbusier’s architectural critique, the result of his theories (like the buildings cited) seem to create a disconnection from the humanistic theory, and ultimately for the human beings utilizing his buildings.
