This town is going to hell in a Gucci knockoff handbag, Girl!
Thumbing through the blog I'm seeing a lot of hope for this world. A lot of us seem to be buying into the sustainable movement, or at least the idea that we can make a difference. Be warned, this is not so. To quote Mitchell from Parks and Rec “This town is going to hell in a Gucci knockoff handbag, girl!”. Have you ever taken a second to think about how many people are in Clemsom, how about South Carolina, The USA, The Americas, The world? At the rate we are recklessly consuming and producing waste the world simply can not keep up. Not only can it not give us what we need… We are poisoning what little it does have to give. The way we pollute and genetically modify we are forcing out species, bees for example, that pollinate our plants so that food can be produced, and most ground water reserves are polluted to the point that they are toxic. The day we run out of clean fresh water and oil is near, possibly in our generation. Not to mention the fact we have eroded holes in the ozone ushered in global warming that will soon flood many costal towns. So honestly…. the “sustainability movement” is a joke. We need to be preparing for what is to come, not placating the masses with some farcical idea that we can live in a simple sustainable way. What would sustainability look like? Honestly i have no idea, but it would be a hell of a lot more radical than recycling your venti cup after your morning latte. So in my view… have at it. Build yourself a Biltmore. Just do it quick while there is some semblance of a normal world to live in.
Food for thought…
