Latham 1.28.16 "They know everything about you, except who you are."

"You are complicit in the tracing of the fingerprints each of your transactions leaves; they know everything about you, except who you are."

In today's world, it seems like everything we do is constantly being monitored, tracked, and recorded. One search for a new pair of shoes online leaves every internet page after that littered with ads of the same or similar pairs of shoes, tempting you to buy them at every new web page.

Is the internet virtual junkspace? Through it, we are able to access unlimited amount of information, shopping, images, videos, music, and more. If malls are endless traps of consumption, then surely the internet, which can be accessed from anywhere and anytime, is the ultimate form of Koolhaas' idea of junkspace?

  1. "Junk Space" is merely an opinion. An opinion which does nothing more than classify an apparatus [a building] as good...or bad. Which is further broken down into one's definition of "junk". One man's trash is another man's treasure. In the realm of the internet being junk space, it is my opinion that Facechat, Instabook, and Snapgram are the epitome of "junk". But does that mean I'm right? Billions of people across the world would say otherwise. Who cares what Koolhaas thinks.
