Junk Space and Congestion

“Change has been divorced from the idea of improvement. There is no progress; like a crab on LSD, culture staggers endlessly sideways.”

I think this is somewhat of a jarring statement, but I have to say that I do agree with it. While my experience with drugged crabs is limited, I feel like we have in our lifetime witnessed and experienced change without improvement, and I believe that this is what generates perpetual junk space. When things continue to change without the intent or occurrence of improvement of how the space functions we begin to see an unorganized congestion. We can see this in American malls and chong qing da sha.

  1. I think what difference between Chong Qing Mansion and the American malls is that the former have long-term issue of the congestion of the unorganized space, since people who occupied the area have different purposes, which make the spatial division more flexible than the american malls
