Re-junkspace
I know I already posted but I saw this and I thought it was worth posting too haha
I was going through my Instagram stories and this popped up...
It immediately made me think about Koolhaas' quote form Junkspace "Restore, rearrange, reassemble, revamp, renovate, revise, recover, redesign, return - the Parthenon marbles - redo, respect, rent: verbs that start with re-produce Junkspace..." Could it be that in some cases although he would consider reproducing it as junkspace, that by giving it another use that actually serves the community is okay and would not be classified as junkspace anymore? How should we interpret this "new trend" of reuse and adaptability? I don't think eeeeeverything is junkspace but I do think that some places could become so and so places could be "saved" from it. Am I right though? How would that look like?

I think the only real way to remove it from the realm of junkspace is to literally give it back to the community. As in, make it public property again. Otherwise, it's still serving a private interest and therefore junkspace on some level.
