Where Would I want to work?
Where
Would I want to work?
Over
the course of the past three years in the architecture program I have always
struggled with how my designs might be inhabited if they became a reality. Is it
better to design a space with a particular program in mind or design spaces
that can be inhabited by many programs. With regards to most of our projects,
we have a particular set of guidelines, you can choose whether to follow them
or argue why you chose to change them. Some times this can feel as if I have
lost the creativity to populate a space with something other than the implied
program. This has often led me to trying to create multi-functional spaces.
Which are either good or bad, they never seem to be somewhere in between. I
wonder if while having clients or professors describe what they want we also
form ways as designers to try and convince them to think of other
possibilities. I know for me most of the time it is easier to follow the brief,
but It still feels like wasted opportunities.
