Who's Responsible for Change
We talk about architects changing the world and the way people live, but is this true? I’d rather consider that the architecture itself has changed and informed the new generation to inspire themselves to consider a new reality, a new way of living, a new architectural style. I wouldn’t say that the architect is the one responsible for this. They are another piece of a rapidly changing world where each person intends to do better. Sure the way that we work and live in a space is derivative of its layout and execution, but the architect cannot decide how we use a space. Rather the space is given to us and the occupant will use it how they please regardless of the intentions of the architect. The architect can nudge but they can’t create lasting change, that’s up to the public.
