And the identity is dead

After globalization, a fluid kind space connects all the spaces surround us which is different from what we know of architecture. It does not follow any rules and it is uncontrollable. Junkspace surrounds us and is where we live. It is multilayered and does not have a unique identity.

This is our leading built environment after globalization and digital era. Junkspace is reflective of our present condition. A chaotic condition full of separate entities which literally is characterless. It embraces different qualities with respecting the idea of “more is more”. Therefore, in this maximalist point of view, unique identity has disappeared.

By knowing all these, should we decide if we like this condition or not? Should we necessarily take a position on that? Or, can we look into people reactions to this condition? Is junkspace full of people? Are people using this space? And most importantly, are they happy in junkspace?

I personally think beyond all the definitions and measurements that we assigned to evaluate the quality of a space, a clear and reliable value is people choice itself. If they are happy using a space, I feel architecture has done its role.
