Design the building like ink wash painting

Critical regionalism!!!
Not fully understand how to translate it back to Chinese. Based on the projects and the explanation I will translate to Design the local building by creat local atmosphere but use model strategy.

Wang Shu is the first architect that I can remember and understand how to explain Critical Regionalism to myself. He uses local material and color to represent the Chinese traditional architecture.

The design style is not come up at one night or one day. He starts to collect the old tiles from the demolition building for 10 years. The tiles just stored in the warehouse without reason. As his design style developing, he starts to use these materials into the new projects. Then the critical regionalism becomes famous.
The atmosphere he tries to create is the ink wash painting. That is the way he wants to represent the Chinese traditional architectures inside to use the same geometry and recreate the building shape.
