"Junkspace" or Development of History

The "Junkspace" as Rem Koolhaas mentioned is also the reflection and record of the world-class upgrade and modern history. As the fast food for people's busy life and the factories built in 18th century embraced the industrial revolution. Now, the shopping malls and airports literally represent the desire of people after the technological revolution.

I don't really think the "Junkspace" should be criticized too much. It's the inevitable process of historical development. With the development of network economy and the change of consumers' behaviors, the real malls would probably be abandoned or transform soon. Actually, it's happening now. And this is also a way promote the development of architecture and our society.

  1. I like your optimism Jiayu. Your first image reminded me of indifferent/passive millennials uncritical of everything around them. We must be careful not to be like them.
