One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Fish Building
I want more buildings to represent what they have inside them. If it has Fish inside it, the building should be in the shape of a Fish. If it has Longaberger Baskets in it (stop asking me why I know what Longaberger is that's not the point of this blog) then make it the shape of a basket. I'm so sick of seeing normal looking building and I don't know whats inside them unless I read the signage posted outside the building. I read all day. I don't want to read more when I'm consuming and spending my money. Make it easier for my brain by making every building an object a 6 year old could identify.
Imagine food trucks... but only in the shape of the food they sell. The Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile is top-tier marketing and everyone should take note- plus handing out free Weiner Whistles...quite frankly...incredible.
ReplyDeleteThere comes a time where the line between over simplification and good design become one!
ReplyDeleteReally interesting point, Jake. If this were true our entire communities would look like an amusement park. Even though it is impossible to be done, it is fun to think about. Burger King should be a huge cheeseburger! But what would a hospital or school look like so that you can understand the program from the outside? You can usually tell a hospital is a hospital without reading the sign.
ReplyDeleteJake, i think i can come to an agreement that we are on the same when analyzing the architecture around us. Hospitals should look like hospitals, and not office buildings.
