Trailer Park Communities
There is a certain stereotype against trailer parks in the United States, however, there is a lack of housing opportunities for low income families to have a permanent home with foundations on a piece of land that they own. There is no sense of "permanency" of these types of residences when looking at them from a distance, but for many people these mobile homes are home. They are close-knit communities with families that rely on each other. Below is an illustration by David Monsen called Sunnydale Trailer Park inspired by the t.v. series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and also a set design for Anton Chekhov's play Ivanov at the Amsterdamse Bostheater. These artists have reimagined trailer parks as the close-knit communities they are and how they can be arranged for the different uses and activities that take place in everyday life.
