Turning a Blind Eye
Turning
a Blind Eye
While
reading “Architecture’s Public” written by Giancarlo De Carlo I couldn’t help
but relate it to my own experience within the school of architecture. Though
times are different I can understand why students would be frustrated with
faculty that refuses to adjust their mindset as the world changes. I know that
in my time here at Clemson I have not always listened to exactly what faculty
members have suggested when it comes to what I design. Though I appreciate the
feedback, sometimes I feel like they are just trying to convert me to what they
believe is “correct”. When in reality what I believe is very important for
architects is to be able to develop your own style or ideals. There is nothing
wrong with being influenced by other people, but I believe being forced to
conform to someone else believes isn’t the way to do It.
