What is Architecture?

     

    What is architecture? There are so many things that go into architecture and everyone will have a different answer. If that question is asked to someone who is not in the profession its probably a simple answer: Designing a building...right? Well yeah but what about the landscaping, the spaces in-between the buildings, the political aspects? So when it comes down to it, architecture to me is about the spaces. If you think about it, the space between buildings is just as important about the spaces inside of them. If the only thing architects considered were the buildings themselves, we wouldn't have spaces like times square or central park. Also if architects designed with only code in mind, we would have very boring buildings that dont consider anything but the egress's and building efficiently. This is why I love architecture. There is never a correct way to design, its all about how well the architect designs the experience on the inside and out.
