Local Town upset with Big Shot Architect

Local residents of a small town in the Midwest are outraged after the architect of a new project refused to use critical regionalism in their design. Despite multiple requests from the community to incorporate local materials and design elements, the architect, who hails from a big city on the coast, insisted on using modernist features and imported materials.

"It's like they're not even listening to us," complained longtime resident Betty Johnson. "We've been telling them for months that we want a building that reflects the character of our town, but they just keep talking about this 'global architectural style' nonsense. It's ridiculous."

The town council even went so far as to provide the architect with a list of suggested materials and design ideas, but all of their requests were met with indifference.

"It's insulting," said council member Tom Thompson. "We've got a rich history and a unique culture here, and this architect just doesn't seem to care. I mean, what's the point of hiring a professional if they're not going to take your input seriously?"

The architect, who declined to be interviewed, defended their design, saying that it was important to create something that would stand out and be noticed.

But for the people of this small town, the architect's refusal to use critical regionalism has left them feeling ignored and disrespected.

"We just want a building that we can be proud of," said Johnson. "Is that too much to ask?"
