Social architecture should be valued in critical understandings of architecture because it foregrounds the human experience and the role of architecture in promoting social justice, equity, and inclusion. By placing people at the center of the design process, social architecture seeks to create spaces that respond to the unique needs and aspirations of the communities they serve. This approach also recognizes that architecture has the power to shape social relations, identity, and culture, and that it can either reinforce or challenge existing power structures and inequalities. In this sense, social architecture can be seen as a critical practice that seeks to question, challenge, and transform the status quo. By valuing social architecture in critical understandings, we can develop a more nuanced and holistic view of architecture as a social, cultural, and political practice, one that is responsive to the needs and aspirations of diverse communities and capable of fostering positive social change.
