Rowe's Mathematical Analysis
Collin Rowe's analysis in The Mathematics of the Ideal Villa showing the shared, hidden but definitive language between two very different buildings shows the cohesive under-language that occurs within architectural design. While buildings can be built in totally different eras and styles they can still be designed through the same subtle mathematical language. Sharing a mutual understanding of space and void, designs use logical and spatial proportions that are the essence of architecture. I find this way of thinking and comparing architecture to be very beneficial and innovative, as it allows vastly different architecture to be all understood under a common language of space and proportion.
