Critical Regionalism
To me, simply, this means site and location specific. Be critical of resources, types of construction, lifestyles, etc..., available in your region and apply this in a heartfelt way to both your site and project that is going to sit on the site. Architecture now is economically driven. The defintion of economics is choice among scarce resources. Taking time to learn the culture and economics of the project at hand is only partly critical. Coupling this along with use of natural topography, light, water, and so on can create a special place. A place that is critical of its region.
