Shifting
Is globalization of architecture destroying local culture or
simply representing a shift. As time change so do the people change and adapt
to the new and evolving ways of life. The way the world is view now is much
different than it was a hundred years ago, so why should architecture nor
represent that. Things might change at a more rapid pace than ever before but
that does change the fact that things are changing and the way people thing and
view the environment change with it. This is not a bad thing but should be
embraced in architecture with buildings that show what the world is today.
There might be areas that wish to hold on to the past and that’s alright. Architecture
is just another way of expression that is demonstrated on a maybe larger more
physical platform then someone just talking. Globalization of architecture is
just a part of this expression and should be free to happen, however, those
that wish to keep and express the local culture should also be free to do so
creating an interesting, eclectic, weaved environment reflecting the people who
live and have lived in this world.
