#tbt Critical Regionalism - The visual vs nonvisual
Kenneth Frampton named six points that distinguish Critical Regionalism and Visual vs tactile is the last one.
The rise of the image over
tactile and text is irrefutable. It is not only represented in architectural
domain. New York Times has introduced evolutionary timeline of the magazine
development since September 18, 1851 when it was first published. There was no
photo appearing on the front page until the early 1900s.
"Critical regionalism seeks to compliment our normative visual experience by readdressing the tactile range of human perceptions"
I do not think that our senses has to compliment each other; Multidisciplinarity;
Jinsop Lee is a multisenser product designer who proved the importance of taking into account all our five senses.
But still we use the graph to capture information quicker. Domination of the visual inevitable globally.
