Eraser of Space

Junk space is like an eraser of space, killing all the diversity, creation and culture of a city. It is more like certain required social rules you need to obey. It is far away from the human scale. For example, Orlando is a tourist city with famous Disneyland and Universal Studio. However, you won’t feel Orlando is actually a real city. The two huge amusement parks erase all the essential elements of daily life.

While the opposite case is Barcelona. It is a walkable city. There is a metro system in Barcelona, but you can walk to everywhere as long as you desire because most the people there prefer walking. You could explore the old city and wander in the small alleys. You might not find everything you need in a grocery store, but you could find various small shops or a market. I was surprised when I was inside a market. It is a familiar memory from my childhood. My mom always bought vegetables and other supplies in a market when I was a child. She always talked with vendors in the market, whereas that rarely happens in a supermarket. 

Besides, the best place in Barcelona is human scale streets. No one is trapped inside buildings there. The street is full of people even at midnight. A lot of activities, fun and happiness happen on the street. You won’t feel lonely and stress like living in a metropolis. It is a cultural space sharing with others and keeping your personality at the same time.
