Junkspace: a mess or a place?

It is quite confused when reading Rem Koolhass's Junkspace since there is no paragraph or division. The whole reading is a bunch of continuous sentences illustrating the spirit of junkspace. I feel like junkspace having the characteristics of both, a mess where we can see a jungle of components concentrating on one space densely and a place where we can see a strong relationship among its elements. Junkspace is just around us, from a scale of public room in a plaza to a bigger scale of a community space in the urban area.

Regarding to the scale of urban space, today we are observing the growth of many metropolitan areas. Those modern cities seem to be scattered and strongly divided into many small parts without any relations and connections. Junkspace is created in these circumstances, making the urban space more separated.

Compared to the traditional urban spaces in Europa or Japan, they were still composed from many small elements including houses, parks, public plaza and so on... However, being different from the modern urban spaces above, we can see the strong coherent among those elements, forming a kind of unified urban space where the connection and interaction significantly enhance.
