Definition of Sustainability for Architects?
Every architect aims to be sustainable in some way or form. The balance between humans, culture, technology, aesthetics and science is tricky. In many of the examples that we explored during our lecture, I personally felt like the architect had a focus area. This includes the Convective Apartments and the Evaporated building by Phillipe Rahm and the waste plant by Abalos and Herreros. While these experiments can be later applied to vernacular architecture in multiple different ways, I feel like architects tend to concentrate on one specific thing. This leads me to the conclusion that architects' understanding of the concept of sustainability needs to expand to be low resource, maximum effect and obtainable for future generations.
