Urban Agriculture

 My studio project is an agricultural school located in a neighborhood in Columbia, SC. This project relates directly to the concept of ecological urbanism because it is bringing agriculture to an urban environment. This is important because it brings food closer to the consumers which Mostafavi mentions is becoming more popular: “We have already witnessed an increasing interest in new ways of producing food closer to and within cities.” Bringing natural elements into urban environments also allows for opportunities for the community to learn about the environment and also create a healthier mental and physical space for the community.
