Not One Size Fits All
When discussing new spaces of social justice, we spoke about how innovation can occur through “scarcity as an alternative material approach” in order to shape human life. While there are many different approaches to this, this process is deemed as necessary for more sustainable architecture. This brought up the discussion on Rural Studio or low resource architecture. I specifically appreciated the 20K Houses in Hale County, Alabama. These homes are designed specifically for the owner and their specific needs using more sustainable construction methods. Overall, low resource architecture should not restrict design but let architects use their problem solving skills in more innovative ways.
