POWER TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER?
This notion that political power within architecture allows for greater and better architecture is true and false. True because in the end political funding is nothing to turn away from. Sometimes it takes that type of support to get local projects built and also sometimes a millionaire doesn't build a library for the local kids that live in the dilapidated communities, he wants that beach house in Maui. But on the other hand it is false because money is the defining factor if the architecture actually does benefit the community. It all comes to how the architect reacts to the local environment and his design ambitions and if he is really trying to respect or just make a cool design that is being guided by the money? Is money king in the world today?
