An outsider experience on suburbia
My first year in the US was a huge change for me, one would think it would be culturally mainly, but since I was in Miami that was not the big difference. The shock for me was being used to live in a big city always in an apartment to a house in the suburbia. For me, the hardest thing to process was the fact that my bedroom was facing the street which in my country would be a crazy dangerous idea. The dynamic of the neighborhood I have to say was very pleasant. It felt like the movie with the perfect helpful community. I know this typology is an aberration to architecture, but my short experience in it was surprisingly enjoyable.
Although suburbia is often criticized, there are definitely some great things about the idea. If there was nothing good about it, then surely most American would not choose to live there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, when I first move to us it was a big change for me from a dense city to a semi suburb area.
