The politics of facade!
Façade is the face of a city, a face of a single family, a skin that interacts with outside world, with the people on the street.
Façade is a tattoo, can be nothing, or can be complex. It shows the building's personality. Every time your eye catches it, you know something.

Façade is a tattoo
Façade must be controlled by someone, the government or the people who live their. You take care of your skin everyday, which is the reason people want to take care of the façade, the architect, or the government.

Air Condition Fan Façade
You can feel the politic on the façade too. For example, the Billboard Façade, Air Condition Fan Façade. There is not that much control. Or the government wants to control it, to make it uniform. Because the government thinks the old building's façade is ugly, and they hire some architects to make it 'beautiful', give a new skin to these building without change inside.

Façade Control, the 'New Coat' project
I like your connection to the facade of a building as a tattoo - and how businesses, governments, etc. want to strictly control them, remove the graffiti, put a new face on it, and don't worry about all the dysfunction on the inside. I can just hear my mother saying now, why would you want to put that on your skin - it will last forever. I guess that is the difference between a real tattoo and a building's facade - the facade will only last as long as the owner's like it.
