Cardboard Architecture

What stood out to me, when reading Peter Eisenman’s writings on Post-fuctionalism, was topic about cardboard architecture in regards to Modernism. He goes on to say that Modernism was in no way similar to functionalism due to it being object-become-simulacrum-of-process. This was contradictory to architecture previous to this where ‘man’ was the subject and form followed later.

He later argues that post-functionalism is a of absence of form in comparison to functionalism focuses on the opposition form and function. In a way post-fuctionalism is shifting back towards humanism in a way that modernism was pushing away.

  1. Hey Hunter! I also really liked the comparison between cardboard architecture modernism. I would also have to agree that post-fuctionalism is shifting back towards humanism.
