Simplicity to Prodigiousness
I appreciate how Bjarke, and BIG, as a whole, maximize their architecture in the most brilliant way despite all the restrictions and parameters. It is almost similar to squeezing water from a stone; that they have achieved the best kind of architecture through digging and squeezing deep enough into the details.
As having modularity and repetition imposes certain constraints, BIG Architecture manages in creating such organic curves easily. For instance, the affordable housing project in Copenhagen has been inspired by logo modularity. Stacking rooms like Lego bricks keep little gaps in between to create the curves. This can only be possible if the design is planned and executed with enough detail where the constraints cannot pose an obstacle.
I see this world as an incredible resource of every possible design. If we carefully think about all the little detail that this nature is bestowing, we can create a completely extraordinary design out of all the ordinaries, just by adding simple ingredients that already the world is offering us and mixing it differently.
I think that is a great point you bring up. That by focusing time on all of the small details, it can produce an amazing overall design. I think sometimes, at least myself, can get caught up in the big picture and overlook little opportunities that could come together to create an amazing project!
