Relieve your Congestion
The idea of Congestion can have different meanings to people. One people might think of a subway, while others think of being congested with sinuses. But in this sense I am referring to congested cities. Urban congestion is something that has always been around. From the time before the skyscraper cities existed and were full of hustle and bustle. After the skyscraper and the ability to build buildings taller than four or five stories took off the quantity of people within a city increased and the level of congestion increased with it. Some people find this congestion a normal part of life while others think its terrible and too many people in a square block. So what are some solutions to this congestion within cities.
Some solutions throughout the times have come in the form of subway, cars, and even buses. But are these forms of transportation through congestion just another form of congestion. Is there no way to move through congestion without getting congested? Or is it a matter of personal preference between people? Should the people who live within the congestion accept that this is where they are and the situation that they have put themselves into and if they do not like it leave and move to a less congested location. But why do some consider congestion bad? Have things congested together allows for some services or commercial products to be closer together. Why would that be a bad thing. Living somewhere that is congested could also give you more options for food or things to do. Having things closer together gives you an option for how you want to traverse the congestion of the city. You can walk, drive, or ride to your destination. In less congested places, your choice of transportation around that place decreases.
So maybe instead of looking leave a congested place to go somewhere else and eventually make it congested too, maybe we need to work to make the congested places less congested, or more efficient. This could involve rethinking the way cars move about cities. Maybe all car traffic is underground or there could be many levels to each street. Maybe, if the cars are underground then people would not be forced to walk on the sidewalks and could walk anywhere throughout the area in-between buildings. Maybe, if people can walk anywhere in-between buildings architects would create interesting promenades with pockets and lanes of different sizes for people to move through, instead of walking one way or anther on a sidewalk.
Cities just need some take an Alka-Seltzer to relieve their congestion.
I really enjoyed your post about congestion. I also liked your different solutions for congestion. Congestion in cities is something I'm used to and almost don't notice as I've always lives near Atlanta, but it's definitely a factor to consider and address.
