People's Architecture
When people are left to their own devices in creating “architecture”
they do it in an organic, free-form way in which it is formed through daily
functions and needs. It is this free thing that is a clear expression of the lives
of the people. It becomes evident what is the most important spaces for them
with them being the base and building off of it as things change and new spaces
are required to meet new demands. Though the spaces might not ever be something
that would be considered to be done by architects there is a valuable lesson in
the way these improved architecture is created. I believe it can be used as
case studies for research on how people live. These spaces have direct
relations to their lives and values. Looking back on the importance of keeping
the user in mind when designing, these space are a reflection of the users.
They are very valuable references to consider when thinking of hierarchy of
spaces and adjacencies.
