pop-up public space
The dominance of the time over the space creates new typology of public place.
"An unrecognized producers, poets of their own acts, silent discoveries of the their own paths in the jungle of functional rationality, consumers produced "wandering lines".. with their trajectories form unforeseeable sentences, partly unreadable paths across a space". Trajectories suggests movements, De Certeau perceives them as a non-institutionalize transcription of our desires and interests. Many of our everyday events are tactical not strategical. Victories of the "weak" over the "strong"
It is a very beautiful concept of notifying everyday life around and taking advantage of newly appeared opportunities to create pop-up public spaces. Not strategic but situation based.
Below I captured a number of pop-up public realms in different places of the world both in interior and exterior that allows transformation and are absolutely dependent on and time.
Charleston, SC, construction works in the middle of King street during night time. With the light looked like theatrical performance in the middle of a busy street. Pedestrians stopped to talk under the light.
