the everyday
While reading Everyday Urbanism by Margaret Crawford, I discovered parallels between her concepts to large cities I have visited. Particularly, I see a strong connection between her ideas and the urban footprint of New York City. While in NYC- the streetscape and public spaces are everywhere you look. These are successful with activities such as walking or socializing. The city's dynamic layout promotes inclusivity and diversity, allowing this to be a successful urban environment.
However, I find myself wondering if her ideals can only be replicated or implemented in areas with a certain population density. Can similar spaces and principals be applied at a smaller scale and still remain successful?
