adaptability is longevity
It is impossible for an architect to think of everything the client is going to need their space to be. We can work on giving them what they think they want and what we believe is best based on our training and experience. Maybe part of good design is the adaptability of it for the user. The spaces we create could be great for the person we are hired for, but will it be for the next people that use it? Giving the them the ability to personalize and create custom spaces may be what increases the longevity of architecture. Isn't longevity something we judge the success or architecture on? I know I do.
Sounds familiar haha
