Negotiation a Path

 It is about negotiating a path between the universal and the particular, leading to action. Campbell 2006: 102

It is interesting in the Searching for the Just City, the market in New York is used as the case for debate. Market and supermarket are just the particular and universal public space. There is a saying, if you feel lonely, go to the market, you will find the life. Market may be the earliest public space and can be found both in the West and the East. During my childhood, every weekend, my mom will take me to the nearby market where she and vendors taught me how to recognize various vegetables and pick up the freshest. I can also feel the time in the market: different seasons and even different time in a day would change the goods.  But at the same time, its unstable offering became a disadvantage and to save the labor, supermarket emerged. A supermarket is reliable and super-efficient. I sometimes design the fastest way to bring all the grocery I need. But the problem is that I find the whole process now seems very mechanical and duplicate. Sometimes I miss the market. And during the special year, due to the COVID, another interesting market- the fresh delivery, a private online market developed very well. Maybe in future, we can click and order just from the farm and pasture? But can we feel the popularity again? I believe market will still survive but in another form.
