Critical VS Projective Practice
A Missed Post from 2.4.16
"Critical" Architecture, a practice which is reflective, representational, and narrative, appears to be irrelevant in my understanding. Much like the readings from this week by Jeremy Till, who talks about breaking away from tradition, this idea of critical architecture seems to be reluctant to change; be it for better or worse. Projective, progressive, and proactive practices are exactly what we as designers and "entrepreneurs" should be directing our practices towards.
If the Doppler effect is the chance in frequency of a wave (or other periodic event) for an observer moving relative to its source, is the Doppler effect in architecture meaning that the further back architecture goes, the less we should draw from its principles? This would obviously back up the case for Projective architecture vs. Critical architecture.
