The Undefined Terms of Projective Architecture
I think what is most intriguing about Doppler architecture lies at the core of the analogy itself. The Doppler effect assumes only a relative velocity between the source and receiver - not the individual movement of either. This undefined movement is the space at the margins of the profession of architecture. I think it is crucial for the growth of the profession that the terms of this equation remain undefined. Critical architecture accurately renders both sequence as well as context. Similarly, Doppler architecture must accurately render not only source and receiver, but the relative velocities of each in any given frame of reference. Architecture is then malleable, reconfigurable and specific. If critical architecture is the architecture of agenda, projective architecture is the architecture of incentive - it motivates, stimulates, encourages.
