Is Nihilism taking a stance or airing on the side elitism?
*ni·hil·ism
ˈnīəˌlizəm,ˈnēəˌlizəm/
noun
- the rejection of all religious and moral principles, often in the belief that life is meaningless.
synonyms: - skepticism, negativity, cynicism, pessimism;
- PHILOSOPHY
extreme skepticism maintaining that nothing in the world has a real existence.
After pondering the question "Where do I want to practice in relationship to the world in terms of words?", I do not believe my stance relates to a Nihilismic approach in architecture. There is almost no meaning, stance, or way of allowing architecture to relate to society. It separates itself from approachable architecture taking forms that are "just because" and "only because I wanted to." How can this method of architecture be critically justified in today's practice? What does this approach teach students besides an air of excessive decision making and non rationalized accords?
