Global Cities

Brooklyn, NYC

Global cities, as discusses in Saskia Sassen's "The Global City", are a terrain of complex layers of operations and dynamic interactions that take on a physical form. Within these complex urban cities there are a multiplicity of influences on the physical world. The way the urban landscape has been shaped is due to many different factors such as political, social, and economical. Understanding solutions to the disparities in these environments requires complex consideration and should be thought about through each layer. A lot of times there isn't just one solution to problems arising from these dynamics and multiple networks of global and local influences should be considered.
