The Spider
I really enjoyed watching the video on ‘self-building’ architecture in Spain. I found the project ‘The Spider’ very interesting because it is a house that looks nothing like anything I have seen before. It looks as though a famous architect thought outside of the box and was able to use their influence to get it done, when in reality this form was only possible through the limitations in budget and material, making the architects have to think out of the box on how to make a functional dwelling. To what extent can limitations help to make more interesting designs? At what point do they truly limit the design?

I also wonder at what point limitations start to hinder design, but I also believe that good design has to go through some form of limitation or struggle. Without any limitation, there is no push for creativity which then results in a half-baked design.
ReplyDeleteThis movie was really inspiring for me! That's true that architects try to be unique with their building designs and forms however, in this case, it was the circumstances which were not ideal and still, the architect could design and build something functional and affordable with the available resources! Therefore, we can definitely say that limitations can be the source of creativity and innovation! Unavailability of resources, man power, and money might hinder the result!
